Eight of the top 10 new car registration rankings are Toyota cars in the first half of 2021
On October 6, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association announced the ranking of sales volume by passenger car name in the first half of 2021 (April-September). Toyota “Yaris”, which sold 105,943 units, became the top for the second consecutive year.
Below, Toyota cars dominate the top four, with
2nd place “Roomy” (66,878 units),
3rd place “Corolla” (48,909 units),
and 4th place “Alphard” (45,565 units).
In addition, Honda “Fit” and Nissan “Serena” are out of the top 10, and “Aqua” and “Voxy” are ranked in instead. Eight Toyota cars occupy the top ten.

1st place [1st place]: Toyota Yaris 105,943 units (33.4% increase, 2 consecutive years increase)
2nd place [6th place]: Toyota Roomy 66,887 units (95.1% increase, 2 years increase)
3rd place [3rd place]: Toyota Corolla 48,909 units (down 12.4%, down for the first time in 4 years)
4th place [5th place]: Toyota Alphad 45,565 units (up 2.8%, up for 5 consecutive years)
5th place [9 Place]: Nissan Note 39,393 units (26.7% increase, increase for the first time in 4 years)
6th place [2nd place]: Toyota Rise 37,348 units (38.8% decrease)
7th place [14th place]: Toyota Aqua 30,000 6490 units (up 51.0%)
8th place [8th place]: Toyota Harrier 36,129 units (up 14.6%, up for 2 consecutive years)
9th place [7th place]: Honda Fried 32,203 units (down 0.6%) (Decreased for 2 consecutive years)
10th place [11th place]: Toyota Voxy 31,065 units (7.0% increase, increase for the first time in 2 years)
