Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) keeps pushing the boundaries of performance with their motorsports-inspired vehicles. Following the success of the GR Yaris, they’ve doubled down on “driver-first car-making.” This means constant testing and improvement in harsh conditions, incorporating feedback from professional drivers, even Akio Toyoda himself (who races under the alias Morizo).
This time, the motto was “Thanks for breaking it,” reflecting TGR’s gratitude to drivers who push the limits. Their feedback shaped not just the engine, but every aspect of the car, from body and interior to exterior design. The result? A comprehensively enhanced driving experience.
One major addition is the all-new 8-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission. Morizo wanted to offer the thrill of sporty driving and even racing competition to a wider audience, and this automatic gearbox delivers just that, performing on par with a manual.
The cockpit also received a driver-focused makeover. Working with pros, TGR tilted the controls and display 15 degrees towards the driver for optimal visibility and reach. Inspired by race cars, even switches are positioned for easy access while strapped in.
