Families of all sizes can find the room, comfort, and towing capacity they need in three-row SUVs like the Volkswagen Atlas since they lack the clunky power-sliding doors of a minivan. The seven-passenger Atlas is a comfortable method to transport passengers due to its roomy third row. When the second and third rows of seats are folded, its spacious cabin becomes a practical tool for moving stuff. A 269-hp inline-four turbocharged engine is mated to an eight-speed automated transmission to provide power. All-wheel drive is an option but front-wheel drive is the default.
With each upgrade Volkswagen gives the Atlas, which competes against more upscale rivals like the Kia Telluride, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, and Mazda CX-90, it gets better. Even an Atlas Cross Sport, which is examined separately, gives the SUV a fashionable makeover at the sacrifice of a third row.
Volkswagen updates the Atlas in a fashionable manner for 2024, adding a slew of brand-new standard features. The Atlas’ new appearance, which features an updated front fascia with new headlights, is the most noticeable alteration. The entire series features new wheel designs, including 21-inch wheels for the R-Line versions. Volkswagen no longer provides the Atlas with the 276-hp V-6 engine; only a 269-hp turbocharged inline-four engine is available. The maximum towing capacity is still 5000 pounds despite the different engines, and front-wheel drive and an eight-speed transmission are still required.
There is still a choice for all-wheel drive. The updated Atlas’s plastic basket in the cockpit has been filled with a ton of new, more premium decoration. Volkswagen also adds heated steering wheels and ventilated front seats to the list of standard features for 2024. The former 8.0-inch infotainment screen has been replaced with a 12.0-inch model, which is a significant improvement. Additionally, VW has added the Atlas Peak Edition appearance package, which features special Avocado Green and Pure Gray paint colors and a more tough and natural appearance.
