2025 Ford Mustang GTD

The Mustang GTD is the result of a collaboration between Ford and Multimatic, the minds behind the Mustang GT3, Mustang GT4, and the Le Mans-winning Ford GT. This vehicle represents the peak of engineering achievement, the result of years of learning via competitive racing ventures. It is intended to etch its place into the annals of both Mustang and Ford history via painstaking workmanship and precision engineering.

The Mustang GTD’s elegant appearance conceals a specially designed supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine with twin air inlets. This beast marks the pinnacle of street-legal Mustang horsepower, a testimony to Ford’s inventiveness.

A distinguishing characteristic of the Mustang GTD is its use of a dry-sump engine oil system, a first for a road-worthy Mustang. This innovation keeps the engine lubricated even during severe and prolonged cornering maneuvers, ensuring top performance throughout.

As the tachometer needle on the engine approaches 7,500 RPM, an orchestra of exceptional tones emanates from the optional titanium active valve exhaust system, a symphony born of engineering perfection.

The Mustang GTD’s performance abilities extend beyond sheer power. Its front suspension layout with short-long arms improves lateral stiffness, especially in high-G cornering circumstances. Meanwhile, the rear suspension has a clever integrated link pushrod and rocker arm arrangement. Adaptive Spool Valve shock absorbers and coil over springs are positioned horizontally within a sturdy and lightweight motorsport-style tubular subframe in this configuration. As a result, the motion ratio from pushrod to damper is 1:1, giving in exceptional responsiveness that adjusts carefully to track variations.

The Mustang GTD’s road-hugging prowess and cornering stability are derived from huge 325 millimeter front tires – similar in width to the Ford GT’s rear tires – and even wider 345 millimeter rear tires. These fearsome rubber buddies are fitted on 20-inch forged aluminum wheels or the optional forged magnesium wheels. The magnesium variations exemplify the ideal balance of weight and sturdiness, with designs inspired by the Mustang GT3 race vehicle.

Behind these wheels are the massive BremboTM carbon ceramic brakes, which have been precisely developed to distribute heat and guarantee unshakable stopping power, allowing for later and more consistent braking into bends. Cooling ducts beneath the rear suspension aid in the dissipation of rear brake heat.

The Mustang GTD is moved by directing power from the engine to the rear wheels via a carbon fiber driveshaft that is firmly coupled to an 8-speed rear transaxle. This design results in nearly perfect 50/50 weight distribution between the front and rear, a deliberate decision reached after extensive lap-time simulations and powerplant dyno testing.

The search of excellence does not stop with mechanics. A cutting-edge semi-active suspension technology improves performance even further. This technology enables the modification of spring rates and ride height, a powerful combination for separately improving on-road and on-track capabilities. With its multiple spring rates and adjustable height, the adaptive spool valve damper system provides two separate states, each of which improves performance in its own context. Furthermore, the suspension’s versatility allows for a roughly 40 mm lower ride height in Track Mode and a nearly four-inch wider track width as compared to the Mustang GT.

In terms of availability, the Mustang GTD will be available in limited quantities, with a starting price of roughly $300,000 MSRP. This pricing reflects the reported 800 horsepower lurking behind its finely constructed body.
