2025 Kia K5 aka Kia OPTIMA (Review) – Refreshed / New Kia K5 2025
Kia America unveiled the refreshed 2025 K5 midsize sedan at the Chicago Auto Show. This debut showcased various updates including a new 2.5-liter engine, design enhancements inside and out, drivetrain improvements, and tech upgrades across five trim levels: LXS, EX, GT-Line (available in front or all-wheel drive), and the turbocharged GT.
Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America, highlighted the K5’s versatility, emphasizing its ability to cater to diverse preferences within the midsize sedan market. Notable refinements for the 2025 model year include standard features across the lineup, with particular focus on the EX trim which now includes a Bose Premium Audio System, powered driver’s seat with lumbar support, Digital Key 2.0, heated steering wheel, and power folding mirrors with integrated LED turn signals.
In terms of design, the 2025 Kia K5 showcases subtle refinements aligned with Kia’s Opposites United typography. Key design elements include new Star Map LED front DRLs, redesigned front and rear fascias, and distinctive wheel options tailored to each trim level.
Interior updates feature a new single-pane curved display housing the instrument screen and touchscreen navigation unit, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enhanced Connected Car Navigation Cockpit system, and OTA updates capability. Additionally, there are improvements to the HVAC/audio-access display and center console, including larger cupholders and a wireless charging pad.
Under the hood, the K5 now offers a new 2.5-liter normally aspirated four-cylinder engine delivering increased power and torque. The GT trim retains its powerful engine paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The K5 also sees advancements in standard Advanced Driving Assist Systems (ADAS), with various features such as Smart Cruise Control, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Park Distance Warning, and more available across different trim levels.
Optional packages like the GT-Line Premium Package and GT-1 Package offer additional features and enhancements tailored to specific preferences and needs.
The 2025 Kia K5 aims to continue its position as a standout in the midsize sedan segment, offering a compelling blend of performance, style, and technology.
