2024 Honda eNy1 – All Electric Compact SUV / Honda eNy1 EV 2024
Honda unveiled the e:Ny1, its second fully electric vehicle, during its European Media Event in Offenbach, Germany. It is the brand’s second pure EV to arrive in the region, following the critically praised Honda e city vehicle, and is intended to address rising customer demand for all-electric B-segment SUVs.
The e:Ny1 follows Honda’s human-centered development philosophy, offering a new, distinctive design and the most sophisticated technologies while making the most of the model’s totally electric engine to produce an SUV with fun-to-drive characteristics, a smooth and polished ride, and intuitive adaptability.
A low front overhang, big wheels, and a wide track combine to produce a striking and stylish external appearance. The e:Ny1 also marks the premiere of Honda’s all-new electric identity, with white ‘H’ badges found throughout the vehicle, including the nose badge, wheel center caps, and steering wheel. A new typeface spells out ‘Honda’ on the tailgate for a premium aesthetic that will appear on the brand’s future EVs.
The clever design of the electric powertrain components ensures that the e:Ny1 provides exceptional interior room and comfort. An all-new center console has a basic arrangement of simply accessible controls, different storage choices, and wireless charging, while an uncluttered dashboard with a big 15.1-inch touchscreen offers access to a full suite of entertainment and driving options.
The e:Ny1 is based on Honda’s newly designed e:N Architecture F, a front-motor-driven platform with three key characteristics: The SUV has a specific high stiffness body structure, a low center of gravity, and carefully regulated under-floor aerodynamics to offer a joyful and confident driving.
The platform also includes a high-performance, lightweight three-in-one integrated power drive unit, electric motor, and gearbox. This engine has a maximum power of 150 kW and a torque of 310 Nm, and it is designed to deliver smooth and comfortable acceleration and deceleration. Under the floor is a high-capacity lithium-ion battery with a range of up to 412 km (WLTP) and DC fast-charging capabilities of up to 80% in 45 minutes.
An all-new chassis designed exclusively for battery electric cars has enhanced torsional stiffness, with high-tensile steel accounting for 47% of the e:Ny1’s body weight. Together with the redesigned platform and powertrain, these contribute to the dynamic performance, great comfort, and refinement that drivers have come to expect from Honda’s newest EV.
