The GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE’s Mercedes-AMG-exclusive hybrid powertrain is tuned for maximum performance. It combines the hand-built AMG 2.0-liter turbo engine with an Electric Drive Unit (EDU) on the rear axle to produce a total system output of 671 horsepower and 752 lb-ft of torque. The electric drive on the rear axle’s immediate response, rapid torque build-up, and rapid power delivery all contribute to the vehicle’s remarkable performance. Aside from the remarkable performance, the independent hybrid layout enables a balanced weight distribution, which benefits both driving dynamics and handling.
The acceleration from a standstill to 60 mph takes only 3.4 seconds and is electronically limited to 171 mph.
The electric motor boosts power and torque depending on the drive program and driving conditions. Under certain conditions, an Electric-only mode enables all-electric driving. The electric powertrain and 400-volt high-performance battery are AMG-exclusive in-house inventions. The battery, like the powerpack used in Formula One, is specifically constructed for quick power output and absorb with revolutionary direct cooling of the cells.
The standard active rear-axle steering, AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel drive, and AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G gearbox with wet start-off clutch all contribute to the exciting driving experience. In addition, the standard AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adaptive adjustable damping and AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL active roll stabilization are included.
