The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE is a game changer: the hybrid powertrain is designed for maximum performance. For a completely new driving experience, it combines the AMG 2.0-litre turbo engine with an Electric Drive Unit (EDU) on the rear axle.

The new plug-in hybrid, 2023 Mercedes-AMG, S63 E Performance retains its twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V-8 engine, while adding a permanently excited synchronous electric motor to produce a whopping 791 hp and 1,055 pound-feet of torque.

All of that power propels the massive sedan to, 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, and on to an electronically limited top speed of 180 mph. The V-8 engine produces 603 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, when driven by a nine-speed automatic transmission. The hot-V configuration, which places the turbochargers between the cylinder banks, is said to improve responsiveness. The V-8 also has a belt-driven starter-generator built into the 400-volt electrical system.
